Family of 5...We are all home!

Thanks be to God! We brought Paxton home from the hospital today at 1:30 p.m.  Dr. Darling discharged him!!  We are getting settled and unpacking...so I will update with pictures soon.  Thomas is so excited! He keeps saying, "My baby brother is a real baby, and I want to keep him forever!"  Lyla Claire is obsessed with him....she wants to hold him incessantly and does not want anyone else to hold him.... She might end up being just a little too much help! But whatever comes our way, I am so thankful we are all home together at last!

Paxton in the NICU

When Paxton was born, the umbilical cord was around his neck very, very tightly 3 times.  Because of this, he was very blue and bruised at birth.  His Apgar score was 9 .... he was very alert.... and taking a bottle within hours of being born.  During the night Friday night, Selena noticed his rapid respiratory rate in the well nursery.  By 10:00 Saturday morning, his breathing was extremely labored and fast.  I called the well nursery nurse and she came to get Paxton. Within a short time, he was admitted to the NICU.  After x-rays and tests, it was discovered he had Respiratory Distress Syndrome and a Pneumothorax, which is an air pocket between his chest wall and right lung.  The pneumothorax was completely gone by Sunday night, but he is currently still in the NICU because of the RDS. We are hoping he will be home with us very, very soon!

And he is here! The umbilical cord was wrapped tightly around his neck 3 times. Dr Webb had to cut it off... that is the reason he is so blue.

Friday, August 12th...

Well... today is the day we get to meet Paxton Lee Goralczyk.  It is 4:15 am and I am lying here wide awake...so many thoughts and emotions... excitement, nervous as a cat, happiness, and thanksgiving the Lord is allowing me to be the mother to another precious one of HIS children. What an awesome responsibility!

In about an hour and half Kenny and I will leave for the hospital as parents of 2... and return in a few days as parents of 3 children.  What a blessing!  I pray that Lyla Claire and Thomas will both be great "bigs", and that Kenny and I will bring Paxton up in a loving, Christian home.  I also pray this delivery will be fairly quick and smooth with no complications for me or Paxton.

Lord, please be with us today.  We are so thankful to YOU for this opportunity.  May we show Paxton your love and perfect will for him everyday.  Amen.

Until another update...

Baby Paxton....

This time next week, hopefully, Paxton will be getting ready for his grand debut.  I am scheduled to be induced next Friday, August 12th... unless he comes before then. I went to the doctor yesterday, but no progress.  So we sit and wait... knowing that the Lord's plan and timing is perfect!  Until then... lots of things to do... hang art in nursery, wash all his clothes, finish monogramming a few outfits and bibs... and clean this house!  Better get busy.
